Shipping to Australia

Previously we wrote about why we weren’t shipping internationally but we’ve still shipped to Australia because we felt like we didn’t want our Trans-Tasman neighbours to feel excluded, especially when so many Kiwis live there.

In 2021 we’re going to be keeping it local and no longer ship to Australia. We want our Aussie friends to do the same and support their own local craftspeople. After the rough year that was 2020, we know that supporting locals is the best thing we can do to help the economy. And especially now that NZ has declared a climate emergency, we really don’t want to be increasing our carbon output by shipping internationally.

Remix Plastic started out selling huia feather earrings at local markets, so check out your local Australian markets and see what amazing things are being made in your neighbourhood. Chat to the craftspeople and you might be the first to find a similar story to Remix Plastic!

Or if you’re shopping online why not support these Australian projects?

Want recycled plastic? Check out our friends at AoraCreo who make stunning bags out of single use soft plastic.

Love birds? Binkabu makes bird themed earrings and supports bird and wildlife rescues in Australia.

Sustainable Fashion believes that the key to sustainability is smart design that considers the full lifecycle of a product. They support  Rainforest Rescue and the Australian Marine Conservation Society.

Maine and Mara keep and reuse all offcuts to ensure minimal waste and donate to the Indigenous Community Volunteers.

Of course, if you’re in Australia and have family and friends in NZ, then you can just ask them to order for you and combine the postage with something else they might be sending.
