Made from PLA (3D printer waste) in Christchurch, NZ by Remix Plastic. We always ship plastic free.

Why Black-billed Gull Feathers?

Most of us don’t consider seagulls when we’re thinking about our native and endangered birds - after all they always seem to be hanging around at the beach trying to eat our chips! But the Black-billed Gull is the most threatened gull species in the world and their numbers are still declining. They breed on braided riverbeds where habitat loss and introduced predators reduce their numbers. Learn more about why they are made.

For every pair of Black-billed Gull Feather earrings sold, Remix Plastic will donate $2 to Our Seas Our Future to support them with their mission to protect Aotearoa/New Zealand’s coastal and marine ecosystems through advocacy, education, and environmental stewardship.

How you can help Black-billed Gull / Tarapuka:

  • Trap pests - cats, stoats, ferrets, rats and hedgehogs are the main predators of black-billed gulls
  • Don’t drive on braided river beds to avoid damaging their nesting grounds.
  • Keep your chips to yourself - don’t feed gulls as they are not adapted to eat human food and it can harm them.
