The latest of our recycled plastic native bird earrings: the Kererū. This New Zealand pigeon is the only pigeon endemic to the New Zealand mainland. The feathers are green-purple colour, but with a bronze tinge - a stunning combination that is impossible to recreate. But when we saw this dark green 3D printer waste we were inspired by its likeness to the chonky beloved pigeon.

Dimensions: feather 4cm x 1cm at widest point.
Hooks: Hypoallergenic (silver in colour), Clip on option now available (silver in colour). Made from PLA (3D printer waste) in Christchurch, NZ by Remix Plastic. Find out more about how and why they are made hereWe always ship plastic free.

Kererū are considered Threatened. To help stop their decline:

  • Check out the Great Kererū Count, a citizen science project to gather information on populations.
  • Be a responsible cat owner; put a bell on your cat and keep them indoors when possible
  • Grow Kereru friendly plants to provide food, shelter and nesting places. Check out this list for details.
NOTE: Each feather is unique with its own colours (and blemishes) - they are fully functioning and we celebrate their uniqueness, as we hope you do! Please get in touch if you are not satisfied with your purchase and we will do what we can to resolve any issues in a timely manner.
