When: Sat Oct 28th, 1pm-2.30pm
Where: Christchurch South Library maker space

Come along to the South Library maker space to learn the basics of jewellery making and plastic recycling, while creating your own unique pieces to take home with you. Note this first workshop will focus on making earrings (clip on options available). There will be more accessories in the future (such as badges, broches, necklaces and magnets).

The workshop will consist of cutting shapes by hand from plastics that would otherwise be going to landfill. Learn about the current issues with plastic recycling, what is and isn't recycled and why, as well as ways you can swap to plastic free/sustainable options in your household. Led by Anthea from Remix Plastic - Anthea has 5 years experience working in environmental education as well as living a 'low waste' lifestyle. Bring along your questions and creativity!

Each attendee will be provided with equipment and materials needed to make 5 pairs of earrings, with extras available to purchase so you can go home and continue your work.

Small print: These workshops are a trial for continuing and expanding workshops in 2024. Attendees will be asked to fill in an anonymous feedback form before leaving the workshop.
