The problem with recycling is that just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, you learn that something that you’ve been happily putting in your recycling bin actually can’t be recycled. Like ice cream containers lids.
Remix Plastic is celebrating our collective resilience as a team of 5 million with the release of pīwakawaka feather earrings. Made from recycled ice cream container lids they remind us of what we can achieve for each other and for our wildlife when we all work together.
Previously we wrote about why we weren’t shipping internationally but we’ve still shipped to Australia because we felt like we didn’t want our Trans-Tasman neighbours to feel excluded, especially when so many Kiwis live there.
In 2021 we’re going to be keeping it local and no longer ship to Australia. We want our Aussie friends to do the same and support their own local craftspeople.
You won’t see any Black Friday/Cyber Monday specials on the Remix Plastic website - all the prices are staying the same. But for every item purchased over the weekend* 10% of the retail price will be donated to Trees that Count. So the winners of our Black Friday deal are NZ’s wildlife, the health of our streams, trees to absorb carbon, your children’s future and you - for making your purchases count in 2020!
Remix Plastic is pleased to release the next in our range of NZ native bird feather earrings! Get in quick for the limited drop of Tūī Feathers!
Like the tūī’s beautiful feathers which appear black from a distance, only to reveal an iridescent sheen of blue, green and bronze in sunlight, the tūī feather earrings are mainly black with flecks of colour.
At Remix Plastic we make beautiful jewellery, but unlike most of the jewellery you buy our pieces are not just designed to be worn a few times then replaced with something new next season. Our pieces are made from local plastic waste diverted from landfill and are embedded with the concepts of kaitiakitanga and circular economy. Each piece carries a sustainability story and makes them a tangible way to engage people in sustainability.
