Cats in New Zealand

Cat pose a significant risk to our native species; often feeding on birds, skinks and bats. There is currently a petition going through parliament to better manage cats, in line with the Predator Free 2050 goals, by calling for all domestic cats to be registered and microchipped, and to be desexed unless kept by registered cat breeders. This would see cat ownership similar to dog ownership in New Zealand.
