Life doesn’t give us lemons!

“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. This adage suggests that we turn something sour into something sweet and always be optimistic. Lemons are in fact not a naturally occurring fruit – like so much of our food, they have been selectively bred over time to produce the desired ‘sour’ flavour. So, life doesn’t give us lemons!

This range of earrings, made up of various citrus fruits laser cut from recycled plastic, challenges wearers to question where their food comes from, how feeding large populations has influenced food production and how many things that are ‘sour’, have been designed to be just that. Systems that do not serve the people are not broken; they were made that way! 

Available in Lemons (yellow), Lime (green) and Orange (orange) with asymmetric pairs of whole and half, or two halves. If you are keen on two wholes, leave a comment at checkout when you order and I can customise them for you if stock permits.
